Amazon lacks loyalty from younger shoppers!!
New research from Wunder Thompson titled, "Future Shopper 2019" has come forward showing the younger shopper has lower loyalty levels for Amazon.
15,000 consumers who shop online at least once a month were surveyed and found....
- Only 26% of consumers under 25 say Amazon has a selection of brands they are interested in
- The majority of these younger shoppers are not satisfied with customer service and the returns processes of Amazon
- The report goes on to suggest younger shoppers are moving back to traditional direct experiences with the brands.
- 53% of shoppers aged 16 to 24 prefer to shop with a brand or retailer that has a physical store This should not come as a surprise.
In a recent breakfast event, I discussed Amazon's shortcomings and how retailers have MANY advantages over this marketplace.
Retailers need to continue to remain focussed on delivering amazing end-to-end retail experiences. While Amazon may be a part a strategic plan for growth, know it's only a part and not the whole.
